What Is Climate Change?

Climate change is a change in the weather averaged over a period of time found in a particular location. This could be a change in how much rain a place usually gets. Or it could be a change in a place's temperature.

Is Earth's Climate Changing?

Earth's climate is always changing. There have been times when Earth's climate has been warmer than it is now. There have been times when it has been cooler. These times can last thousands or millions of years.

Sixteen of the 17 warmest years in the 136-year record all have occurred since 2001 excepr 19981. The year 2016 ranks as the warmest on record. Facts state that global temperature has gone up by 1.7oF since 1880.2

Adverse weather conditions like temperature rise have certain negative impacts, some of which are already happening such as glacier melt leading to sea level rise.   Apart from these other impacts are also exist such as alterations in rainfall patterns, change in cropping patterns due to frequently changing weather conditions and so on. Climate change could affect our society through impacts on a number of different social, cultural, and natural and human systems. For example, climate change could affect human health, infrastructure, and transportation systems, as well as energy, food, and water supplies. It will affect certain groups more than others, particularly groups located in vulnerable areas and the poor, young, old, and sick.
