On an annual production basis 300 million tons of plastics is produced which causes serious detrimental issues that arises due to excessive landfill and difficulty in eliminating it. Excessive landfill and oceanic pollution causes havoc in marine ecosystems because plastics and other pollutants are ingested by fishes. Researchers from California State Polytecnique University reported using catalytic pyrolysis to turn plastic wastes into valuable fuel source.
