Seminar on “Climate Change and Desertification: Renewable Energy Solutions for Enhancing Mitigation Potential in Rajasthan”

Environment Information System Resource Partner on Renewable Energy and Climate Change hosted in TERI, New Delhi in collaboration with ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute (CAZRI) Resource Partner on Combating Desertification, Jodhpur organized a one day seminar on “RE-ENVIS 2019: Climate Change and Desertification: Renewable Energy Solutions for Enhancing Mitigation Potential in Rajasthan” at Hotel Brys Fort, Jaisalmer on January 10, 2019.
About 100 participants participated in the seminar comprising of researchers, scientists, academicians from Government and Non-Government organizations and farmers. It focussed on the future of renewable energy expansion for enhanced energy availability in arid and semi-arid regions of Rajasthan which are under the threat of desertification. Dr Anandi Subramanian, Principal Advisor, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India; Mr Amit Kumar, Senior Director, TERI; Dr Devi Dayal, Head, Regional Research Station, ICAR-CAZRI, Bhuj; Dr J. P. Singh, Coordinator ENVIS RP, ICAR-CAZRI, Jodhpur and Dr P K Bhattacharya, Associate Director, Fellow and Coordinator, TERI ENVIS RP inaugurated the seminar with their valuable words and views on latest technology developments, alternatives and their apt usage in different parts of states, country and the world.
