The 'Industry Charter for Near Zero Emission Ambition by 2050' has emerged as an important step for the Indian industry to voluntarily commit to decarbonisation measures and to work together in key thematic areas that can make a 'zero carbon' future a reality for India. To support the principles of the Charter, the TERI Council of Business Sustainability (CBS) is hosting a series of Knowledge Webinars that will share latest insights with practitioners and leaders of Indian industry.

TERI, in collaboration with Shell, had earlier released a scenario sketch of India to transform to a Net Zero Emissions Energy System by outlining transformations, technological options and policy frameworks required to reach net zero emissions in energy system keeping 2050 as a goalpost. In this study, Net Zero Emissions scenario (NZE) was developed to examine whether adequate opportunities exist to fully decarbonise the energy sector and highlight the areas where India’s energy sector does not have enough choices for full decarbonisation by 2050.

The findings from this study will be presented at the webinar followed by moderated discussions and inputs by Indian industries to encourage further deliberations and deep dive into energy sub-sectors that would benefit charting out India’s sustainable energy transition.
